Faith is not faith, unless it is tried

1:13 PM

It will be untruthful to say that I allow my faith to carry me through every difficult situation. As much as I want that to be the case, it is not. As much as I would love to portray myself as a Super Christian, I am not. I openly confess that I live and walk by faith, but during this journey, I can't help but to have moments of instability where I may waiver. Oh my goodness! Did I just say that? Is it possible to walk by faith and waiver? Heck, yeah. I don't glory in this, but I recognize that I am a human being who has shortcomings, but rely wholeheartedly on my Christian faith to carry me through.

It is through the moments of struggle, when my faith is strengthened to another level. Sometimes, with a little kicking, other times with a little crying, but all the time going through, onward and upward. We are human and cannot negate that fact, no matter how many scriptures we memorize, how many sermons we preach, or how often we attend church service. Our flesh is in constant battle with our spirit man; therefore, "Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfull the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish." (Galatians 5:16-17) Paul said it best, "For I know in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells..." (Romans 7:18). So,when I am faced with an impossible situation, my nasty flesh sees it through the carnal eye and not through the Spirit, which is guided by faith; but, when faith grabs hold, I am encouraged to know that, nothing is impossible with God (Luke 1:37).

When my flesh desires to doubt or be contrary to what the Word of God says, my mind begins to shift on times passed where He delivered me from another "impossible" like situation. I, then, confess out loud His promises to me, so this way my ears hear and embed it into my flesh, which in turn strengthens my spirit to overcome. People of the Christian faith may tell you that as I Christian you are not to doubt and it is a sin. This is true. You shouldn't doubt, because it is the opposite of faith, but that doesn't mean that you won't. Remember, doubt, fear, confusion, lust, and all things contrary to the spirit of God, are sin and temptation. These things tempt our Spirit and self to do wrong, to sin. But glory be unto God, "God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it." (1 Corinthians 10:13). The way of escape is found in the Word of God.

Romans 8:37, "Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors..."
Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me."
2 Corinthians 1:19, "For all the promises of God in Him are yes..."
2 Corinthians 5:7, "For we walk by faith and not by sight."

Faith is not faith, unless it is tried; therefore, you must strengthen your faith daily through the Word of God, so when trouble comes, you will be equipped to withstand the temptations of fear, doubt, confusion, anger, disappointment, and so on. Don't be down on yourself because your human being goes through human emotions. Instead, lift yourself up when your flesh desires to overtake your Spirit.Get in your Bible and search the scriptures, find verses that will help you during times of "impossible" situations.
