When I think of the Goodness of Jesus
12:19 AM
When I think of the goodness of Jesus and all He has done for me, my soul cries out
I thank God for saving me. I can't begin to tell you how many times God has blessed me when I felt unworthy. Nor can I count the times He faithfully delivered when I constantly fell. I can't count or tell such a thing, because the number is infinite. God keeps on blessing me, over and over and over again. Me, a wretch undone. In Isaiah 6:5, Isaiah said in the presence of the Lord, "Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips..." He quickly acknowledged his sin, humbled before the presence of the Almighty God, knowing He was not worthy to be in His presence. There is NOTHING I have done so great, to deserve His indescribable love or to be in His presence, yet I am grateful for it and cherish it as the day is long.
When I begin to feel down in my spirit, all it takes is a memory. All I have to do is think on His goodness. That is all I need to jilt my spirit from negative to positive; a memory of an occasion when God stepped in and spared my life, or raised a loved one off of death's bed, or showed favor in times of difficulty. My spirit becomes overwhelmed and full. I then begin to meditate on the Psalm, "Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God (Psalm 43:5) and I'm encouraged to remember, if He did it before He can do it again. Hallelujah!
When you are feeling down or swayed by the cares and troubles of this world, take a pause and think on a time God miraculously stepped in and changed a situation in your favor, or answered an impossible prayer request. You know, one of those things if God didn't do it, it couldn't have been done. Think on that, and see if you are not overtaken by the goodness of God, and give Him a Hallelujah praise.
